CIVILIAN FOOTWEAR DIVISION The
Civilian Division comprises both mens and
ladies footwear. Imported mens and ladies footwear under the GH Bass & Co licence, are wholesaled into the retail market. Ladies Division Uppers are of aniline kid, buffalo calf, burnishable buffalo, kid, nubuck or nappa, with resin soles and unit heels. The roots of the Oudtshoorn plant date back to the early part of the century. Over the years, the Oudtshoorn factory has developed and refined skills in ladies footwear manufacturing that today sees it setting new standards in quality and comfort. Today all local ladies production is manufactured at the original Oudtshoorn plant by small enterprises established by Bolton Footwear, but owned and managed by ex-employees, all of whom come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The Oudtshoorn factory has a capacity of 2000 pairs per day. Watson
Shoes The factory capacity exceeds 3000 pairs per day. Watson Shoes was recently restructured into a network of related, interdependent small enterprises, each owned and managed by previously disadvantaged South Africans. During 2005, the Watson Shoes factory at Great Brak River received the ISO 9000/2000 grading. Civilian
